Mentorship
Operation Transformation is a mentorship program that works with Highest Risk young men from the ages of 13 years old to 26 years old. Our goal is to walk through the day to day life of these young people, being a support and a guide to them all while challenging the way they think about problems they face.
Through this mentorship program, the mentee is partnered with men whom have successfully navigated through life’s issues, trauma, and other circumstances that are derived from toxic environments, violence, gang activities etc. They are taught conflict mediation skills, CBI techniques, job readiness, entrepreneurship, and every day life skills.
The Daughters is a mentorship program for young ladies ages 13 years old to 26 years old. This program caters specifically to young ladies who are considered high risk, vulnerable to abusive circumstances, homelessness, prostitution, low self esteem, and more. Our goal is to simply love on them, provide guidance through one on one and group mentorship. These daughters learn about their self worth, conflict resolution, CBI techniques, job readiness, entrepreneurship, and every day life skills.
Public Safety
With working in the various communities we serve, one of our pillar priorities is Safety! We work intently with residents, stakeholders, businesses, faith-based organizations and community to break down the stubborn problem of violence. This is done through conflict mediations, teaching non-violence principles, identifying and detecting root causes, and intervening and interrupting its motion.
Victim Services and Case Management
At Access Freedom we believe in taking a wholistic approach to violence. Therefore we provide tier one services to victims of Gun Violence and Domestic Violence through a lens of Love, Compassion, Resources, and Case Management. We practice with a hands on approach, not only providing the care and resources needed, but also acting as a mediator to attempt to prevent retaliatory violence.
Books on the Block
Books on the Block is a literacy initiative which creates book clubs on the blocks in the communities we serve. We believe that in order to Access Freedom, we must be readers. Leaders are Readers. We provide and read books with the community that causes us to expand our thinking and to challenge us over all!
Books on the Block provide books in various forms, paperback, audio, and “reader” versions. Our goal is to combat illiteracy in our communities as well as change the norms of our populations daily habits and behaviors
Rock The Block
Access Freedom believes that it’s difficult for one to thrive in a toxic and dilapidated environment. Rock the Block allows us to beautify our blocks by doing Green and Cleans, Painting chipped porches, boarding up abandoned properties, and providing beautiful landscaping. It is proven that a clean
community is a safe community. This allows us to partner with the community and other organizations to take ownership of our blocks and making them safe for all.
Money Talks
There is a language spoken by money that is often times misunderstood. At Access Freedom, we teach this language to the communities we serve through Financial Literacy, Credit Smarts, and Financial Responsibility. We help our participants to establish budgets, savings, basic investing, and how to establish and maintain healthy credit.
